GETTING STARTED:

Note: This torch is a delicate instrument and should be setup carefully to ensure parts life and high-quality welds.  For best results Arc-Zone recommends our cut-to-length and pre-ground tungsten electrodes.

Tungsten Electrode Positioning/Tightening Instructions:

  • Tighten 45° & 90° electrode chucks using the inserted tungsten as a lever by rotating clockwise (see Fig. 1).  The tungsten should be inserted through the nozzle orifice, and through the electrode hole in the chuck so that it is flush and does not restrict gas flow.

    Note: Take care to rotate nozzle simultaneously so as not to force tungsten against nozzle causing it to break!
  • Adjust Tungsten length so that rear of tungsten is flush with rear of chuck as shown; (Figs. 2,3, and 4) and protrudes approx. 1/8" beyond the nozzle.

    Note: The electrode must not protrude past the backside of the electrode holding chuck, or it will cause reduced gas flow resulting in poor quality gas coverage.

     
  • When using the P/N (125N90S) low profile 90° nozzle, the tungsten should be inserted through the nozzle orifice, and through the electrode hole in the chuck so that it is flush and does not rest rick gas flow


     
  • Tighten 180° straight style chucks (Fig. 5) with Chuck Wrench P/N (53N20). The tungsten should be inserted through the nozzle orifice, through the electrode hole in the chuck so that it is flush and does not restrict gas flow.
