Monster™ Cup Best Practices, Set-Up Tips, Do's & Don'ts!

  • The Monster™ Cup works best with Arc-Zone's high-quality gas lens collet bodies
  • The Monster™ Cup is designed for Argon flow rates between 15-30 CFH (cubic feet hour)
  • Do Not Exceed 175 amps for extended periods of time!
  • The Monster™ Cup is Not designed for welding with AC current!
  • Minimum tungsten stickout of 3/4" (19mm) -- Shorter stickout may result in damage to the screen stack
  • Use a medium or short back cap ONLY. (Long back caps are known to trap atmosphere in the top of the cap)
  • Do not adjust the positioning, or modify the Screen Stack in any way

Monster™ nozzles are designed for precision TIG welding applications where increased shield gas coverage and tungsten stickout are needed. They are not designed for heavy-industrial pipe welding applications.

Arc-Zone does not make any claims or guarantees of weld-quality improvements, or level of shield gas coverage. Results may vary, due to: weld station set-up, material preparation, gas quality, gas flow rates, flow meter type, gas hose material, welding machine, TIG torch, operator’s torch handling technique, etc.

Compatible with popular TIG torch models including: A150 (WP-17), W350 (WP-18), A200 (WP-26), W400 (CS410) and CK 3 Series TIG torches.

I like the fact of be able to stick the tungsten out more to weld around a small tube and it shields the argon well. I would recommend this for home welders that’s preparing for a job weld test.

Does make a difference is gas coverage. Was able to stick the tungsten out far enough to easily see what I’m doing while still having good gas coverage

I am glad I got this one. I used the monster nozzle #12 with 1/16 ArcTime tungsten for a complete build of my motorcycle metal art. It works great for getting into tight spots because you can stick the tungsten so far out (3/4 inch plus) without the cup getting in the way. I was surprised that the tungsten doesn't arc over sticking out so far with tight surroundings. The argon coverage is good using 10-12 psi. Check out @mccannfab on Instagram to see the comparison of the #12 and previously used cups.

I have always been skeptical about the bigger cups, but I’m so glad I bought this one. The gas coverage is outstanding and the arc is more stable because of Arc-Zone’s screen stack. My old go to setup has been a #8 stubby gas lens for mild steel and stainless. This cup is now my go to. For T joints I can run as little as 13 to 15 cfh of argon with a ¾” stick out. Most welds especially out in the open I’m running around 25 cfh with the same stick out. I have pushed this cup with just over a 1” stick out. It worked well, but if you plan on using more than a 1” stick out I would recommend a #14 or #16 Monster Nozzle. I’m giving these numbers as a comparison. Different joints and applications you will need to adjust what works for you. Checkout @BlackburnFabrication on Instagram to see the cup in action.

The packaging says it won't make you a better welder... I disagree, awesome gas coverage in a small nozzle. Reaches places that my old jumbo #12 cup did but with better results and it's a fraction of the weight. I've already dropped it a couple times and it didn't crack!
