WONDER WOMAN OF WELDING
Six years ago, Lauren Svedman started her career as a welder in a somewhat unwelcoming and childish work place. After years of put downs and being picked on, she decided to take matters into her own hands. Focused on creating camaraderie, Svedman is now a full-time welding instructor for the Chicago Women in Trades program and dedicates her life to changing the culture within the trades industry. The CWiT organization is driven by their mission to ensure that all women who want to work with their hands and earn a good living have equal access to information, training, and employment opportunities in the industry.
